The most important habit score may not be your streak. It may be your recovery speed.

Missing once is normal. The danger begins when one missed action becomes evidence that you are “off track,” and the pause quietly stretches into a week.

Build a faster return

  • Name the miss: record it without drama or excuses.
  • Skip the punishment: do not double the workout or starve through the next meal.
  • Use your floor: complete the smallest version at the next available cue.
  • Resume normally: return to the regular plan after the minimum action.

Your floor might be a five-minute walk, one strength set, a protein-centered next meal, or a two-minute evening review. Decide it before you need it.

Then track one new number: the time between the miss and the return. A shorter recovery window is progress, even when the streak was imperfect.

Consistency is not never slipping. It is becoming someone who returns quickly.
